Project Approach
We have an emergent curriculum that builds on the interests of the children. Topics for study are drawn and captured through conversations between children and teachers. Teachers will guide the children to make decisions about the direction of study to be taken and also the various avenues to express the new knowledge they had gained.
Subject Learning
| 1 | English Language
Our English language program is well-supported by a highly recognized and effective phonics program from the United States called Sing, Spell, Read and Write (SSRW). It incorporates a wide range of catchy songs and games that teaches the letter names, letter sounds , vowels, blends. The whole phonics instruction is systematically sequenced to build a firm foundation which ultimately prepares the children to become confident speakers, independent readers and creative writers.
Each child is placed on an individualized reading program in K1 where his/her reading progress is carefully monitored. A wide range of genres will be introduced to the child, including readers, poetry, newspapers articles, comics, advertisements, etc. Creative writing would form an integral part of the kindergarten language program.

| 2 | Chinese Language
Our Chinese Language Program is designed to nurture a strong interest in the Chinese Language through songs, rhymes, stories, puppetry and games. At the same time, children from Nursery Level will begin to recognize Chinese characters and learn the strokes of Chinese characters. Hanyu Pinyin, which is part of the Primary 1 syllabus, will be taught in Kindergarten 2.
| 3 | Mathematics
Numeracy skills are systematically introduced to the children at various stages. The Pre-Nursery and Nursery children will master the concept of numbers through fun pre-number activities, songs and rhymes. For the kindergarten levels, children will carry out hands-on activities and games that will help them to fully grasp the mathematical concepts such as number operations, problem solving, measurement, spatial awareness. |
Motor Skills
Our outdoor play area is designed to allow children to develop their gross motor skills through active play and exploration. Specific activities are planned each day to ensure a balanced development of essential motor skills. We have in place a wide variety of outdoor activities like water play, sand play, cycling, relay games, obstacle courses and a big playground equipment for climbing, sliding and balancing. In the process of engaging in these activities, children will get to learn important values like co-operation, turn-taking and teamwork.
Young children, especially the children in the Pre-Nursery and Nursery classes, need to develop good fine motor skills in order to be competent in many life skills e.g. eating, writing, dressing, buttoning, grooming. Hence, we provide ample opportunities at the learning corners for the practice of such skills.
Aesthetics
| 1 | Art
Our Art program emphasizes on the basic literacy in art - the ability to understand art concepts such as colour, texture, line, shape, space and form. The projects that the children embark on provide a ready platform for artistic expression and application of art skills.
| 2 | Music
Studies have shown that music enhances other learning, such as the acquisition of language, listening skills, math skills, auditory discrimination, social understanding, and personal discovery. Our objective is to introduce children to music in an environment that is both fun and nurturing. Hence music & movement is an integral part of the daily class sessions.

Social Awareness and Character Building
In line with the philosophy of Little Big, we strongly believe in building and developing the character of a child. By creating a positive environment of affirmation and encouragement, we aim to develop the child’s self-worth and self-confidence. Through stories, modeling from teachers and social interaction with peers, children will learn to understand concepts like respect, responsibility, co-operation, love, trust, kindness, generosity and self-control.
